THE CHALLENGE

Indiana University needed to determine if the IT staff could reduce their current occupation from four floors to three. It was critical to create an open and collaborative environment through lowered workstation panels, access to daylight, and access to meeting and focus rooms. Because of the diverse nature of the ICTC work groups, the understanding of user’s needs and preferences was extremely important. In addition, the university desired an area to showcase the Global Network Operations Center, GNOC.

OUR SOLUTION

Through the use of observation, surveys and feedback, users’ input was heard and implemented, minimizing the impact of the shifting work environment. Determining the correct ratio of meeting spaces to workstations further increased the effectiveness of the re-designed spaces. Work groups are judiciously placed to improve adjacencies. Electrified, back-projection glass provides both security and branding opportunities at the highly visible GNOC.

THE RESULT

Better communication, collaboration, and work flows were the result of the renovation for staff. This 24/7 Global NOC space now provides privacy for staff during off hours while maintaining public visibility during the day.
